Electronic Air Cleaner washing and troubleshooting Information Guide

a) Make sure there is power to the Air Cleaner
b) Wash the collector cells and let dry - then re-try

If your air cleaner still does not work after following the intructions below for cleaning the cells, send an e-mail to our Service Dept.

Washing Instructions

1) Dissolve 1/4 to 1/3 Cup dishwasher detergent (ie; ALL or Cascade or Calgonite) in hot tap water in your laundry tub or other container.

2) Immerse the collector cells and pre-filters in this solution and let them soak for about 30 to 40 minutes.

3) Drain the dirty water and rinse thoroughly with hot tap water, making sure that there is no soap residue left on the components. ( It is preferable to have a little bit of pressure to dislodge any loose dirt and soap particles)

4) Let them drain for a while before putting them back in the rack but don’t turn the switch on for a few hours. Let the furnace blow them completely dry.

5) Turn the switch on and check to see if it powers on. Light indications can vary from model to model, so call or e-mail with a picture if unsure.

If not, then remove both collectors and replace door and turn power on - if still not , then bring cells and whatever parts you can remove, in to our shop for repair.

If the light does come on, then try 1 cell at a time (placed either at the front or all the way to the back) and see if the problem follows 1 cell or both. You may then be able to see where the problem is and rectify the problem - usually it is bent plates or something lodged in between the plates. If the problem is not evident, then bring the cells for repair.

Caution! We do not recommend dishwasher use, as that could damage the cells severely if not used properly and it could cause unnecessary repairs to your dishwasher as well. We are seeing some damage due to the use of pressure washers; either home units or car washes can damage the "delicate" plates severely.

We recommend that the cells be washed every 4-8 weeks because the air cleaner is most efficient when cleanest.

**We have charcoal filters for many brands of air cleaners. These type of filters can reduce the odours of ozone and cooking etc. Once activated, they last for about 6 months.

**We also sell the "DAX" cleaning solution (Call 519-451-8830 for pricing and stock check.) Please note we cannot ship to the USA.
